A Month of Sundays
A Month of Sundays

'A Month of Sundays' is a comedy about the difficulties inherent in growing old, and the action takes place in Cooper's room in a residential home for the elderly, where he has gone to live rather than become a burden on his family. He flirts valiantly with the female staff, banters with his good friend Aylott and keeps a check on his "record of physical deteriorations". The action revolves around these relationships and the painful ritual of awkward monthly Sunday visits from Cooper's daughter and son-in-law, while Cooper and Aylott realise that life can only be endured if treated as a comedy.

Bob Larbey, in partnership with John Esmonde, created much-loved sitcoms from the mid - 1960s until the mid - 1990s, including 'The Good Life', 'Ever Decreasing Circles', 'Please Sir!', 'Get Some In!' and 'Brush Strokes'.
His solo successes included 'A Fine Romance' and 'As Time Goes By'. 'A Month of Sundays' was his first stage play, written in 1985.

Ashtead Players will be performing this Bob Larbey play at the Ashtead Peace Memorial from the 18th to the 21st November 2026.

Tickets now on sale online and from the Box Office - 07598 121 477.

What a fantastic
production. The pace, the dialogue, the action and the
comedy.
